What is a Maintenance Test?

  • Is performed to identify equipment problems.
  • It can be performed at either the system level, the equipment level, or the component level.

Function of Maintenance Tests:

  • Someone requests to migrate the software to say the latest hardware platform or change the environment like OS version, Database version, etc. In such cases Maintenance testing needs to be conducted to make sure that nothing breaks.
  • Maintenance testing:
    • Maximizes system reliability
    • Extends equipment life
    • Ensures safe operation
    • Avoids costly repairs due to component failure
